SURROUNDS
Oak is our most popular
material for surrounds. Being that the material is so versitile
being
stained various colours
can give it a contemporary or a traditional. Being the nature of
the
wood a close grain will
naturaly give the surround a darker colour where as an open grain
will give a lighter colour.

pink coloring,

WOOD
Painting
a solid wood is a cardinal sin so most of the painted surrounds
are American Popular
(or
commanly know as tulip) or MDF (Medium Density Fireboard). Mdf does
have a bad repurtation thanks to many make
over
tv programes but it is perfect for fireplaces as it is heat treated
when it is made there is no worry of the wood
cracking
or splitting. There are no design restaqints due to the abundant
sizes so no joining wood together to get
the
right sizes.
